Rose-crowned Fruit Dove

ROSE-CROWNED FRUIT-DOVE: Ptilinopus regina

Characteristics:

  • The male crown is a rose colour, while the rest of its head and breast are blue with white spots.
  • Female is a more duller colour, with their crown being a more paler rose-pink, with a more yellow throat.

Distribution:

  • It inhabits rainforests, monsoon and paperbark forests, fruit trees, eucalypt woodlands and vine groves.
  • Usually seen in pairs, or in small groups about a food source.

Call:

  • Call is a 'woo-hoo' repeated, becoming faster and ending in a rapid 'hoo-hoo-hoo'.
