Giant Water Spider

Water Spider, Megadolomedes spp.

This huge spider can grow to the
size of a human hand.
-
They are usually seen on the
edge of freshwater streams with their head down and their font legs in the
water flowing by. (as pictured)
-
They are often noticed on the
cement or wood on bridges and causeways across water.
-
They hunt for fish and aquatic
invertebrates. They are capable of hunting on the surface of the water.
-
They are found all over
Australia and can be common along freshwater streams through lowland tropical
rainforest.
